Weddings are joyous occasions where families and friends gather to celebrate the love between two individuals. However, keeping the little ones entertained throughout the day can be a challenge. As a wedding photographer in Chichester, West Sussex, I have witnessed first-hand the importance of ensuring that children have a memorable and enjoyable experience at weddings. In this blog post, we will explore some fun activities to keep the little ones engaged and entertained, allowing their parents and other guests to fully enjoy the celebration.
Kids' Activity Stations: Giant Jenga, board games like snakes and ladders, Twister and other novelty games can keep children of a variety of ages engaged and having fun. A wedding can be an opportunity for children to make friends and see distant relations that they may not have met before and getting them all to have fun together will make the most of this opportunity.
Outdoor Games: If the wedding venue has outdoor space, consider arranging a variety of lawn games such as ring toss, or a mini football game. These activities encourage children to make play, and have fun together.
Photobooth Fun: Create a special kids' corner within the photobooth area. Provide props like silly hats, oversized sunglasses, and wigs for the little ones to enjoy. They can dress up, strike poses, and create memorable photos that will be cherished by both them and their parents.
Kids' Dance Floor: Dedicate a section of the dance floor exclusively for the children. Play upbeat, age-appropriate music and encourage them to show off their dance moves. This not only keeps them entertained but also allows them to burn off some energy.
Professional Entertainment: Hire a professional children's entertainer to engage the little ones with magic tricks, face painting, balloon art, or even a puppet show. Their presence will ensure that the children are captivated and thoroughly entertained throughout the wedding.
Something for the big kids: 12 and Consider setting up a corner or even a tent somewhere for the tweens and teens to play a game, grab a cold drink and a snack somewhere with kids their own age.
Give them all a job to do! Even if the children aren't directly involved as ring bearers or flower girls you can give them "important" jobs to do such as being photographers (provide a couple of disposable cameras), caterers (handing around little cakes) and tidy-up help! Each child is sure to have their own strength so ask their parents what might keep them involved (and entertained) and before you know it the children's party will have their own caterers, photographers, babysitters, games co-ordinators and even maybe a DJ!

Capturing the genuine moments of joy and laughter shared by children is a really special part of my job. I love being there to capture the excitement and adorable expressions, and these activities play a significant role in creating the core memories weddings can become.

By incorporating these fun activities into your wedding plans, you can ensure that the little ones are entertained, engaged, and happy throughout the celebration. Not only will this create a stress-free environment for their parents, but it will also add an extra layer of joy and vibrancy to your special day. The positive impact of these activities on children and their families on such an important day can't be overestimated. Your wedding day should be a memorable experience for everyone, including the little ones who will hold the memories dear for years to come.
